Statement of Purpose
The Bureau's Youth Links Team aims to provide the best possible service for young people in the community.
A service that meets individuals needs by promoting choices and options for change, enabling young people to take control of their lives.
We value young people, regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, religion, gender, sexuality or ability.
Youth Links Provides:
Youth Drop-in service:
THIS IS A STATE FUNDED PROGRAM
The program provides information, referral, advocacy, crisis intervention, and support for young people from 14 - 25 years of age.
Opening hours - Tuesday to Friday
2.00 pm to 5.00 pm
- Safe environment for young people to causally drop in
- Open Tuesday – Friday, 2pm-5pm
- Provides assistance with internet job search
- Provides information about associated agencies
- Confidential and culturally sensitive
- Crisis Intervention
- Emergency Relief e.g. food vouchers etc
- Personal Support
- Confidential counselling, links to other services
- Advocacy
Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP):
SAAP IS A COMMONWEALTH & STATE FUNDED PROGRAM
Supports homeless young people between the ages of 16-25 in Transitional Housing and assists them to find and maintain safe, secure accommodation.
Employment, Education and Training (EET):
EET IS A STATE FUNDED PROGRAM
Provides intensive support to homeless or at risk of becoming homeless young people, aged between 15-25 years who want access to employment, education and training services and opportunities.
Community Development Program:
THIS IS A COMMONWEALTH & STATE FUNDED PROGRAM
Works with young people from all backgrounds to provide support and opportunities to participate in activities based on inclusion, participation and empowerment.
Activities aim to increase social support networks, community connections, and leadership towards the future.
African Youth Settlement Support:
THIS IS A FEDERAL FUNDED PROGRAM
Providing support to newly arrived African youth aged between 12 - 25 years who are in the first 5 years of their settlement into Australia.
Job Services Australia (JSA)
THIS IS A FEDERAL FUNDED PROGRAM
Youth Links, as part of the AMES Consortium, and Job Services Australia provide support and assistance to young people who are looking for work or return to study.
Catchment areas:
Priority given to City of Greater Dandenong, not excluding surrounding suburbs.
Young people aged 16- 25, single men and women. Self-referrals accepted, priority given to young people with CALD backgrounds.
The family of the young person is encouraged to participate in the young person’s decision-making processes.
Interpreters are available.
