Transition to Work
Are you thinking about getting a job?
If you are a parent, a carer or aged 50 and over and thinking about getting a job, you may be able to get help from a new Commonwealth Government service.
This serve is called Transition to Work - and that's just what it's designed to do: help you move from parenting or caring responsibilities into a job.
Transition to Work will help people who are not on income support as well as those who are.
The primary objective of the service is to help individuals to improve their prospects of getting paid employment.
The help is flexible, tailored to your needs and free.
How Transition to Work could help you
Transition to Work offers practical help, such as training and funding to help you develop your skills. What's more, the assistance package is tailored to suit your needs. The package may include activities such as:
- courses to up-grade your skills, like those provided by TAFE;
- help with writing your resume or job application;
- career counselling or even
- driver training - either to gain a car driver's licence or a special licence.
Who is eligible?
Transition to Work has been developed for parents, carers and mature age people 50 and over who are startng work for the first time or are returning to work after a long absence.
Whether you receive income support or not, you may be eligible for help.
So, you must:
- be looking for paid work
- have been out of the workforce for over two years; and
- be a parent, someone who has been caring for others or a mature age person 50 and over.
